French President Emmanuel Macron delivered his traditional New Year’s Eve message from the Élysée Palace in Paris on Sunday after a year that saw widespread protests against his government’s pension reform and the recent passage of an immigration bill endorsed by the far right. Macron’s address also comes less than seven months before the 2024 Olympic Games open in the French capital.
