On Wednesday, 25 October 2023, the UN Security Council will convene its annual open debate on Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security (WPS), the landmark resolution that recognized the impact of conflict on women and girls and the importance of women’s leadership in peacebuilding and peacemaking. In the context of the open debate, UN Women together with partners will host a number of events that will bring together women leaders, peacemakers, activists, and women human rights defenders to advocate for conflict prevention and resolution and for building and sustaining peace.
